Anonymity, I believe, is significant to the online world. A lot of people depend on being anonymous on the internet to express what they want to say and to ask questions comfortably. It is important that we are at ease when we use the internet, and not embarrassed when we are asking questions on anonymous websites. Anonymity also gives people the opportunity to be heard equally as anyone else that is not showing their name. People may not be given attention based on their identity, and with the power of being unnamed they would not not have to gain respect in order to be listened to. A great majority of internet sites allow users to be anonymous, and if the internet takes this away then there would be a significant decrease in online activity.

I completely agree. Despite all of the bad things people do while anonymous on the internet, there are many individuals who rely on the anonymity. Many creative people start off anonymous. If people enjoy their work, they'll be encouraged to create more and maybe even reveal who they are. If people don't, then nobody can pick on them because they don't know who the creator was. Some groups use it to speak to others about a touchy subject in a form of therapy such as AA. Rather than focus on how anonymity has affected the internet negatively, it would be better to recognize what positives it had brought.
