Anonymity, right or wrong?

Before reading the online articles we were assigned in class, I believed that anonymity should be banned because it will stop all the trolling, but now I don't think it should. Anonymity has its pros and cons. One good reason to keep anonymity is because people use it to actually benefit the society. For example, the Anonymous Hackers us anonymity to track people down like Isis. They're helping the society by hurting Isis from the inside. Anonymity also allows people the freedom of free speech. Some people use anonymity to post their stories. Some people use anonymity to talk about life experiences and stuff they have gone through. This allows them to express themselves through speech without letting people know who they really are. They aren't harming anyone so this innocuous. The cons to anonymity are pretty heavy. Even though some people use anonymity to express their stories, others use it to trash on other people's lives. People use anonymity to call people names and say disgusting things to them. Anonymity can lead to cyber abuse and in some cases suicide. The only way to fix this problem is to enforce better laws on cyber bullying. Instead of relying on social media apps to take care of the issues, the federal government should get involved. The government can monitor the social media apps and make sure they aren't taking advantage of all the trolls. Social media apps usually gain money from clicks on their apps or from people seeing advertisements on the feeds. When trolls use social media apps, the apps gain more money which makes them not want to do anything about them. I believe the government should enforce laws on the social media industry by charging them for every time they don't do anything about trolling. This will make them lose money, so they would have to follow the law. I think this law would help make being on the web safer and won't eliminate the pros of anonymity.
