One in itself: Loneliness 

     In the book "The Lefthand Darkness" one of the concepts pertains to one being cold and isolated simotaniously. This concept is based on the thought that they their planet itself is lonely, cold, and harash. Playing on the characteristics of the planet, it effects all life in the same negative way. In chapter 2, inside the blizzard, "Ice nothing grows and no beasts run... He went alone through the storm,"(24). Suicide, where those whom taken such an action reside in this known "blizzard". Understanding this Getheren is becoming more cold and alone himself. The feeling of death and the how the cold coincide. He can't help but feel more lost and afraid than he's ever had before with this he connects with the ideal of suicide. The cold, frozen, and iced over thought, he understands now. Now more than ever.
